Fair Trade and Responsible Business Compliance

Besmo works closely with all its producers & artians to ensure that they meet and continue to observe the standards that we have always adhered to. Claire McGuigan, a freelance fair trade consultant, worked with Besmo to develop a set of formal responsible business guidelines that outline the framework for our vendor relationships. Claire’s work includes capacity building with marginalized producers, consultancy work with Traidcraft PLC & the development of fair trade and responsible business practice.

Our vendor compliance guidelines cover the following areas:
1) General social and commercial business objectives
2) Fair prices & wages
3) Working conditions
4) Child labour
5) Gender equity
6) Protection of the environment
